Tourism Levy

Tourism Levy

Council has resolved to implement a tourism and economic development levy for short-term accommodation and commercial and industrial properties within the former Maroochy area for the 2009/2010 financial year.

The unanimous decision will bring the Maroochy area into line with the Caloundra and Noosa areas, where the levy already exists.

A special rate will be levied on all business properties and accommodation properties that are deemed to gain benefit from tourism visitation. Accommodation properties that benefit from tourism visitation are defined as properties that are offered for short-term rental (i.e. less than 28 days) during any part of the current financial year.
